Know Your Paycheck

CalHR has issued Pay Letter 24-31 to provide the Special Salary Adjustments (SSA)and pay differentials to all Bargaining Unit 10 scientists – rank and file employees and supervisors and managers – effective July 1, 2024 and to implement the pay differentials that are part of CAPS-UAW 2024-27 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The pay letter covers the SSAs we won through negotiations (effective 07/01/2024), along with the following pay differentials:

Many CAPS-UAW members report having received SSA back pay. The reports about the differentials and the associated back pay are mixed – some members have received them, but quite a few have not.

If you have yet to receive your SSA or a differential on your October paycheck, or the retroactive back pay associated with them – please immediately report issues with your paycheck here so we can work to identify and resolve any issues with your paycheck

Please do not email the general inbox about paycheck issues, and instead fill out the paycheck support form. In the form, you will be asked to upload a copy of your October earnings statement (paycheck). Please have this ready to upload prior to filling out the form. This is necessary to assist you in getting the pay you are owed. For support finding your October earnings statement on CalConnect, visit the State Controller’s Officer (SCO) resource guide here

Given the State’s antiquated payroll system, your patience will be required as the SCO and your department work through the steps necessary to implement the pay increases you are due per the MOU. Here is a step-by-step guide with more information on how to access your paychecks on CalConnect.

For more information on the SSAs and differentials in our MOU, please visit our Salary Explainer document.

Know Your Rights Training

Paycheck Edition.

It’s critical that all of us are aware of the rights and benefits available to us through our MOU and as State employees. The upcoming trainings will give you the information you need to find your paycheck online, identify how to assess whether you have received the pay increases owed to you through our new MOU, and what to do if your pay isn’t right!

Fellow Scientists throughout the State will be facilitating this training at various worksite locations between November 4 – November 14. A list of times, dates, and locations for these upcoming trainings will be available soon.

If you would like to facilitate an upcoming Know Your Rights Training – Paycheck Edition please reach out to CAPS@capsscientists.org and a fellow Scientist will reach out to you with more information!
