Get Out the Vote for CAPS-UAW Priority Candidates

It’s critical that we stand united for a pro-worker Congress and State Legislature that support State Scientists and the issues we care about and that matter most to working families!

Along with UAW members across California, we have screened candidates for the California State Assembly, California State Senate, and United States Congress, and determined our priority candidates for the 2024 General Election this fall, listed below.

Northern California – Sacramento Area
Porsche Middleton (State Assembly District 7)
Jessica Morse (Congressional District 3)

Central Valley
Adam Gray (Congressional District 13)

Los Angeles Area
Sade Elhawary (State Assembly District 57)
Pilar Schiavo (State Assembly District 40)
Kipp Mueller (State Senate District 23)
George Whitesides (Congressional District 27)

San Diego
Darshana Patel (State Assembly District 76)

The priority candidates for the State Legislature all share State Scientist values on worker rights, pay equity, protecting our pensions, improving access to affordable housing, addressing environmental issues like the climate crisis, and opposing contracting out of State Scientist jobs. Electing these priority candidates will maintain and expand the majority of pro-worker members in the State Legislature, which makes critical decisions about State Scientists jobs, programs, and the work we do protecting the environment and people of California.

The priority candidates for the U.S. Congress all share State Scientist values and electing them is critical to regaining a pro-worker majority in the House of Representatives that supports the right to organize a union, reproductive freedom, affordable housing, climate justice, and science funding.

You can find more information about the CAPS-UAW priority candidates here.

One component of building political power is organized people working to elect people who share our values, which involves members participating in voter outreach, including canvassing and getting out the vote (GOTV). Sign-up below to attend an upcoming volunteer canvass and go door-to-door talking with voters about CAPS-UAW priority candidates. We will coordinate with volunteers for carpools.
